Grey's Anatomy continues to be one of the most popular series on television, presenting a great set of characters in drama-filled storylines. If you haven't fallen in love with these characters yet, you obviously haven't been paying enough attention to ABC over the past years. Grey's Anatomy for the first time has hit the Blu-ray format, and it is very impressive.
Grey's Anatomy Season Four presents another season of the extremely compelling drama. The show, starring the likes of Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, and others brings back all of our favorite characters for another season.
You get to see many extremely intense situations that these characters get thrown into with some truly trop storylines. The show to date has earned two Emmy Awards, and 22 nominations. It has also won two Golden Globes, and a Grammy nomination.
Needless to say, there is a reason that Grey's Anatomy has been so heavily praised. It has some terrific stories, tremendous performances from its cast, and great direction.
This all comes packaged nicely in the fourth season of Grey's Anatomy. You get to see a variety of break-ups, the continued relationship between McDreamy and Meredith Grey, and others.
Grey's Anatomy Season Four does a nice job of continuing the relationships, bringing in new characters, and more. It may not have been the best season of the show to date, but does a good job and leaves you waiting for season five.
I was a bit skeptical going in to see how the show would transfer over to the Blu-ray format. Thankfully though, I ended up pleasantly surprised with the results.
The Blu-ray set is a 4-disc box set, with the video being presented in 1.78:1 widrescreen. The video quality is far improved over what is offered in the DVD box set, with much more clarity, vibrant colors, natural flesh-tones, etc. The show was made for HDTV, and does a fantastic job of transferring over to Blu-ray.
The audio is presented in an Uncompressed 5.1 surround track, and is also very well-put-together, with nice use of the center channel for extremely clear and crisp dialogue. The only downside is that it is still a bit too front-heavy.
The extras for Grey's Anatomy Season Four on Blu-ray are made up of a nice package for fans.
Things start off with two extended episodes, which do quite a bit to add to the story and show some new scenes.
On top of that, you also get a nice set of outtakes which will have fans laughing due to the crazy antics of the stars of the show.
Fans are also going to get to take a much closer look at many of the scenes of Grey's Anatomy Season Four which were unable to make it onto TV.
The features are rounded out by a series of audio commentaries, as well as a feature which takes you on the set with Patrick Dempsey and Dane, and a look at the new characters on the show.
Unfortunately there is not much here in regards to Blu-ray exclusive add-ons. The inclusion of the updates Total Menus, and SeasonPlay feature are nice additions though which fans will surely appreciate. Still, more could have been added for Blu-ray consumers.
SeasonPlay allows users to pick up exactly where they left off, remembering where they last were in the season.
Grey's Anatomy Season Four represents another solid season of the hit show on ABC. The Blu-ray release is well worth it for fans, with improved video, audio, etc.
Episodes: 8.5 The fourth season of Grey's Anatomy packs plenty of drama, very enjoyable!
Video: 7.5 A Improved over the DVD release, but not up to par with other high-profile releases on Blu-ray.
Audio: 8.0 The audio is too front-heavy, but presents the dialogue well.
Extras: 7.0 The lack of Blu-ray extras is disappointing.
Final Score: 7.5
