Washington (dbTechno) - Cray, known for building some powerful supercomputers, has announced the launch of a new low-end model, the Cray CX1, with the price tag of $25,000.
The Cray CX1 supercomputer packs some impressive features, such as eight dual-socket processor blades.
Each of these are mounted on an Intel Xeon-5400 series chip, with memory capacity up to 16GB.
You can also have up to 4TB of internal s torage space thanks to the support of an I/O blade.
There are also USB ports, a 16-port gigabit Ethernet switch, as well as a 12 port 10/20Gbps Infiniband switch.
The low-end supercomputer also features a touch-screen so you can set up and configure a variety of things.
It will run on Windows HPC Server 2008, and will start at the price tag of $25,000, going up to $60,000.
