11 killed in Congo stadium riot
BUTEMBO, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Eleven people were killed in a riot at a soccer game in the Democratic Republic of Congo after a player was alleged to have used witchcraft to win the game.
The soccer game Sunday in Butembo was between local rivals Nyuki Club and Socozaki, Goal.com reported, citing a report by Radio Okapi.
The Nyuki club player allegedly used ''fetishist'' witchcraft spells to turn the game in his team's favor.
After a riot broke out, crowds flooded the exit gates, where the 11 people were killed in the crush, the report said.
